About Us
Our History and Mission
Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBS) is an internationally recognized technical society under IEEE, servicing the largest community of biomedical engineers in the world. Our mission is assist the lives of others by creating novel solutions to medical and biological problems through the application engineering concepts. Our members learn about and apply different concepts and methods of physical engineering and life sciences to issues in the rapidly expanding fields of medicine and biology.
Since 1952, our parent organization, international EMBS, has incubated global leaders and problem solvers from a host of backgrounds capable of addressing modern challenges, and our Purdue student chapter was founded in September 2015. We are one of the youngest committees within Purdue IEEE and a group of dedicated students who share a common passion for transforming and revolutionizing future medicine and healthcare. Our society exposes its members to the people, practices, information, and ideas necessary for success in biomedical and related careers. We regularly have different social events, seminars and tours through assistance of faculty and industry supporters; befitting a technical society, Purdue IEEE EMBS members diligently contribute to research initiatives, participate in competitions, attend conferences, and organize technical workshops for the cultivation of shared knowledge.
